Founded in 2021, Sycamore Accounting is a business created by Doug Gaylor, with a purpose to help its clients meet their objectives via improvements to their finance processes, reporting and use of data.
Doug is a CIMA qualified accountant who has worked in finance for over 20 years, including PWC, EY, Transunion. He has a natural aptitude for improving processes, developing KPIs and dashboards/ complex spreadsheets, and finding a story from large sets of business/ finance data.
Having worked in a mixture of evolved corporates and developing SMEs, he has a great viewpoint to see both what the result of automated and scaled finance processes look like in large businesses, while also having been through the journey of laying the foundations for growth and structure in smaller SMEs.
The name Sycamore Accounting comes from one sunny day during 2021 while Doug was setting up the business, staring out of the office window looking for inspiration for a suitable name to represent the company image. Outside the window stand 4 sycamore trees and we often see trees as strong, resilient, adaptable, ever-growing, which we feel perfectly captures the ethos of the business.
